The Hamburg Derby won by an foreign rider

Billy Twoney ensures a breathtaking jump off with an absolute stunning round. Winning the Hamburg Derby with being the first foreign rider since 16 years "is and honor" according to Twoney.

The Hamburg Derby started of with it's usual Thursday and Friday events in which riders could fight for a starting position at the Hamburg Derby 2016. Surprisingly Marco Kutscher got second in the qualifying round, however he did not compete at the Hamburg Derby, which lead to some trouble in the press conference.

In one of the qualifying rounds of the Derby the heart stopped of the spectators as Karsten-Otto Nagel with his experienced Derby horse "accidentally" falls of the east side of the famous Derby Wall, horse and rider stayed uninjured.

Side events such as the Global Champions League and the Longines Global Champions Tour caused a lot of attention throughout the city of Hamburg leading new people to the sport. Christian Ahlmann landing on place five extends his lead in the overall Global Champions tour ranking.

Next up Madrid, which could give Ahlmann some precious points in leading the Global Champions Tour. "My aim is to win the Global Champions Tour", Ahlmann being confident the horses and riders are ready for Madrid.
